The Obituary of Richard Cory
There’s a line in a Colin Hay song that says, “I’m waiting for my real life to begin.” Have you ever felt that way? Sometimes we get so good at being who we’re supposed to be, being the person someone else thinks we are, that we lose sight of ourselves altogether. What do you do when it’s time to stop acting?
Take the next step:
Restore your self-esteem
Take a lesson: How do you define yourself?
Discover your destiny
I could not view the video as I’m on “dial-up” as opposed to “high-speed-internet”, but I do have experience in “trying to be the person others thought I should be”. We all are followers to some extent, but need to cultivate the ability to lead (at least ourselves) to a greater degree. That is when real life begins! In the “school of life” God draws us to himself, and in his perfect timing will show us where we are. Then He also gives us that instinct of knowing what to do about it. At the feet of Jesus every knee shall bow! In Romans 14:11 we read “’As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.'” NIV. With the burden of sin gone, we’re able to stand a little taller. That affects our self-esteem and helps us to move forward with increased realization of what our God-given abilities are. The Spirit then helps us to set the direction we are meant to go. God reveals to us (only one step at a time) that plan for our life. What a relief I felt when I realized that I was not meant to be what others perceived me to be!
Lord, I pray You restore the self-esteem of all those who read this, and help each one to truly find the plan You have for their lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
SO MANY TIME.
P/S He is gorgeous.
