Imprisoned In My Mind – David Rodenberg Video provided by: I Am Second

We all have our opinions about addictions. Maybe you know someone, or maybe you’re struggling with it yourself. What initially starts out with a seemingly harmless curiosity rapidly catapults into a full blown insatiable desire.

For David Rodenberg, that transition from curiosity into a colossal addiction became detrimental. As if his social isolation and his battles with Bipolar Disorder were not enough, he was engulfed by the lure of sexual gratification. This craving led him to dangerous places — including resorting to criminal activities, prison, and several suicide attempts.

Identifying his desire for intimacy, David felt a voice reaching out to him and reeling him in; and, with the intervention of his mother, David sought freedom from the deathly grasp of his addiction.

Make it personal:
Like David, do you crave intimacy?

    Sir,

I would like to use this video clip to show to our men at the church. How can I obtain a copy of it? Many times we are in places where there is no internet connection and I would need a downloaded version to use. I am prepared to pay for it.

Well! I think that this is a great film to watch. I want to share a prayer with all who witness it. I pray that they will turn to God and ask Him to heal them of this addiction. I know it is not easy to do, but together we can do it. I have a chemical imbalance and take meds for it. I know I am healed from it and now I think of the meds as sugar candy that i take. Lord I pray for healing upon each one that watches this video. In Jesus Mighty Name Amen

Addiction enslaves, imprisons and it is a cage or dungeon as well as a cocoon where one feels that everything may go wrong if he left it (the addiction). It is a point where one needs urgent and constant help to get out. It is very easy for one to get addicted yet it is very hard for the person to get out of it.

Luckily, we are reminded that with God all things are possible. It is in order for the addicted person to take the first step towards recovery from addiction and this can start from the mind, by allowing the self to seek and get help appropriately. This is because in our own strength and wisdom, we can do nothing, but with the help of God Almighty, He is able to get us out of that situation and restore us back as He is able. God forgives us ALL our sins and accepts us by renewing our state! He also forgets ALL our past, including the kind of addiction! He is able.

This is an epidemic among so many christian men and I have been one of them that has struggled and been held in this destructive, discouraging stronghold for many years. I have tried counseling, books, various advice and plans for being clean and healed. One day God placed a book in front of me entitled “Clean” A Proven Plan for Men Committed to Sexual Integrity by Dr. Douglas Weiss. It has without a doubt been a road map on the road to recovery and healing like I have never experienced. The perspective and insight I gained from a man you struggled himself through this addiction and has made it a mission to help as many others and equip others to do the same, has been unbelievably effective. I read this book in two days and keep reading it over and over. Do the same and I bet any of you reading this who have been held captive in this will join me on the road to Victory and be used as a vessel of God to combat this horrendous attack of Satan’s against our Godly brothers and help restore them that they may be fruitful for God’s kingdom. I am praying for you! God Bless!
