This was very important to watch. Thank you for sharing. You are extending the very heart of God.
One of the important lessons I am learning these past months is that it is not so important that I understand the pain of another’s heart but that I am simply there to be with them in it. A friend told me this was the precious gift of ‘presence’. We don’t see it much anymore in our hustle bustle world. We have all kinds of excuses why we don’t get involved, but for me, I know in my heart it is because to enter into another’s heartache is a very vulnerable place for me. But my Lord says “Go” and so timidly I trust that He will give me courage, strength, and wisdom. To enter into the fragile human condition willing to give your whole heart, I believe, is the most Christ-like thing a person can do. May God continue to break my heart with the things that break His.
Leslie, you said it so right on! Having been in the pain and sorrow of losing my husband, I understand what it means to enter another’s heartache. I am so thankful that I had the kind of friends around me who had the courage and strength, and who were willing to give their ‘presence’! Truly, it was the Spirit of Christ working through them, touching and healing me.
