This is by far the lamest webiste I have come across in my entire life.

  • Evatriz says:

Was Jesus a Jew or not? any references from the bible please

  • Jamie Jamie says:

Hi Evatriz, I guess the best proofs that Jesus was a Jew would be the two genealogies found in Matthew 1 and Luke 3. The Matthew passage shows the family tree of Mary, Jesus mother, all the way back to Abraham. The Luke list is of Joseph, his earthly father, all the way back to Adam.

Also there is Paul’s declaration in Romans 9:2-5, “My heart is filled with bitter sorrow and unending grief for my people, my Jewish brothers and sisters. I would be willing to be forever cursed– cut off from Christ!– if that would save them. They are the people of Israel, chosen to be God’s special children. God revealed his glory to them. He made covenants with them and gave his law to them. They have the privilege of worshiping him and receiving his wonderful promises. Their ancestors were great people of God, and Christ himself was a Jew as far as his human nature is concerned. And he is God, who rules over everything and is worthy of eternal praise! Amen.”

So why do you ask about Jesus’ racial background?

  • Alfred says:

Dear Evatriz, I am a mentor for this site, and it gives me great pleasure to find a few scriptures that will answer your question:
God chose Abraham to start a nation of people that would respect and worship Him alone. From within that Jewish nation, God chose a young woman through which Jesus was to be born into this world.
The genealogy of Joseph (the step-father of Jesus) is given us in Matthew 1:1-17, and again in Luke 3:23-38. Do we have to prove that King David was a Jew?
Matt 1:18 “This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. NIV
Matt 2:1-2 “After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem 2 and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him.” NIV.
Jesus came for all mankind, but as a person on earth, He was a Jew!
We read in John 4:9, where Jesus meets the woman at the well: “The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.)”
The Jewish people were also called Hebrews, for we read in Jeremiah 34:9 “Everyone was to free his Hebrew slaves, both male and female; no one was to hold a fellow Jew in bondage.” NIV
We read in Exodus 2:7 “Then his sister asked Pharaoh’s daughter, “Shall I go and get one of the Hebrew women to nurse the baby for you?” This is when Moses was found in the basket.
    Rom 10:12-13
12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile — the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” NIV.

I do not know how much more detail will make it more evident that Jesus was born a Jew; yet isn’t it marvelous that God found a way to free us from the bondage of sin, and through Jesus Christ have us become His children!

  • Dina says:

Thank you believers. you are doing a great job in christ. keep it up for His kingdom

  • Nathan says:

This is a Jesus thing? You should be more clear on that.

  • Claire Colvin Claire Colvin says:

Hi Nathan, I’m sorry if you felt mislead, but you are correct. This is definitely a Jesus thing.

  • Boyd says:

To be fair, if I knew this little coaster had anything to do with organized religion, I would have passed it back to the nice lady that handed it to me in the first place.

As it stands, here I am!

That being said, I think I’ll leave now and answer my deep-seated personal and philosophical questions with something real.

    :)

  • Kristen says:

I went into the restroom at work and found this little book sitting there waiting for me. I spent a beautiful afternoon sitting near a cherry blossom tree and read it.

I do not belong to any “religion” and I agree with this message. I am not searching or craving and I have let go of the need to know “why” long ago.

    All you need is love!

  • Jamie Jamie says:

I am glad you did stop by to say “Hi” Boyd. It would appear that you are fairly certain that the claims of Jesus Christ are less than real. What has convinced you of that?

  • Jamie Jamie says:

Hi Kristen, that is wonderful that you were able to spend time reading “Soul Cravings Prequel”. What part(s) of the message did you agree with?

  • Kyla says:

I find this disappointing and irritating. The mysterious advert “I Crave Change”. Enticing, promising.

The quiz “Tell us what you crave!”

    The options:
    “Money/Success”
Money – We need this to survive in society. In Calgary everyone is grasping for it, welcome to the rat race. But you’re never supposed to soulfully want “Money”.
Success – For some reason, this is paired with money. This fulfilling source of self-value, of accomplishment, of feeling that you, yourself can be successful, has been inexplicably tied to the material. To greed.

    “Friends/Partying”
Friends – Oh, wait. You mean people to love, care, about and emotionally support you?
Partying – Drunkenness, lewdness, escapism, often unhealthy behaviour.
Really. These things inherently go together? Everyone craves companionship, let’s be realistic.

    “Love/Sex”
Love – is any explanation needed? To love and be loved and feel love for the world around you, isn’t this the most fulfilling aspect of sentience?
Sex – Carnal, good-feeling, associated with diseases, misbehaviour, negative results, rape-culture, sexism, and a lot of social awkwardness and disdain.
But… if you crave love… one must conclude that you want sex as well, and all related negative social connotations.

“Something to believe in” Isn’t there a song saying we all want something to believe in? This is a line that has been instilled in our society, that we’re nearly bound through socialization to agree with, to want to believe in. And your proposed answer is “God” not “god” not “spirituality” not a fundamental belief in divine undercurrents. The ever present, ever-masculine, uninclusive “God”.

The first thing I found, when I chased the promise of “what do you crave?” was a little survey, a simple little survey. As my introduction to you, it was sadly misleading and biased. List those options without pairing them. See how your results change. Be honest. If you’re suggesting that people tell you what they crave so that you can help them find meaning in life, don’t encourage them to make decisions with unrealistic options as a way of introducing god to them. You’re not offering openly, you’re not bringing them in honestly, you’re manipulating them.

This makes me sad. If you wanted to share your beliefs with me, you really should have left your manipulation at the door.

  • Jamie Jamie says:

I am really sorry that you felt manipulated Kyla. I guess in all honesty the “I Crave Change” was a teaser to get people to think through some things that perhaps they had not considered before, so there was some manipulation intended. However, it was never intended to make you feel belittled or disrespected at all.

You see, the people behind this site are convinced that there are cravings that are intrinsic to the human condition. They are cravings that exist in the hearts of humans no matter their culture, religious background, education or socio-economic status. It is our opinion that those cravings are God’s calling card; one of the ways that He helps people to find Him.

These cravings are ones that people try to meet in all different kinds of ways, some positive but many can be very destructive. But ultimately these cravings are met through a relationship with God Himself, which is exactly what humanity was created for: to know and be known by God.

So this site pokes at those cravings in people’s lives to help stir up those thoughts that can ultimately point people to God.

Now you perhaps don’t share that opinion. Have you ever thought about the intrinsic human cravings for meaning, destiny, and intimacy and why everyone experiences those same cravings and are driven to find a way to meet those deep seeded needs? Have you ever considered where those cravings come from? What are your thoughts on the possibility that God has placed those in your heart as a way to help you discover Him?

I would love to hear your thoughts on that. My only motivation is to hear your opinion and give you the reasons why I think this all points to God. Are you interested?

  • Courtney says:

I believe that anyone who has poked their head into this site, no matter the length, has a desire, a longing for something more. This is the reason you all came onto this site. Forget the manipulation you all keep talking about and push past it. Is there something else there that is pulling at your heart. I think this is the best website I have come across in a long time. If not just to get us out of our comfort zone and to get us asking questions. Why………

  • Darrin says:

The downfall of man hallways been a power play of those who have sided with supreme beings. God is a work of fiction through the ages of man. It was a way for our infantile minds to explain what we did not yet understand as we developed our conscious state and self-awareness.
Giving up religious notions and ideas of a centralized god who cares about you, the world, etc is the only way to move forward. Otherwise we leave ourselves “stuck” in this pitiful state looking for answers from the outside instead of finding a better understanding of ourselves and then the world around us.
There is, and never has been a god in existence, only those who manipulate and control you using god as unlogical reasoning.
We only Ned to understand nature to know ourselves, a nature is balance. Perfect balance. Nature only looks to move forward, progressing while maintaining balance. If something goes out of balance, nature always corrects it. Nothing more, nothing less.
If you seek more meaning in your life, look at your life and find the missing piece of balance. Give out what you want to gain, give up what you need to lose. Balance.

Thanks for joining the conversation Darrin and sharing your views. I know that there are a lot of people who would echo your comments. What evidence has convinced you that God is a work of fiction?

  • shelby says:

Room for dreams?! Absolutely! Dreams and vision is what gets me movin’ and shakin’ during the day. I am 29 years old, bout to have my THIRD baby, starting a coffee business, and working 50+ hours at my day job. I cling to dreams. I pray for more vision from Christ. I seek the dream. The dream is the goal. The dream releases the endorphins.
Oh, and can I connect with God without religion?…the last year has shown me that it is the ONLY way I can truly connect with our God is without religion. Also without craving and striving for more and more stuff. Crap. Things. Money. Bullsh*t that I have been told throughout life is “what matters.” Once I have been able to discover who Christ is/was/will be in my life without the nonsense of legalistic traditions, I can now say that I am free. Free in the grace and love shown to me by my, and your, Creator. Although this journey has many, many more questions than it did before, the answers that I am getting make so much more sense. God makes sense. The world will undoubtedly fail me…even repeatedly…but God makes sense.

  • Brad says:

If one is amazed at the creator and astonished by all that is offered/inspired, then organized religion makes sense for that person if they encounter kindered friends.

It also is a beautiful commonality for people to gather and try to implement all the depths of love, kindness, joy, and hope that are first inspired by God’s workings in that life, and is called to be a safe place that offers grace to newer people looking to explore the potential of it.

So many people look at the church, and judge it on what it currently is. I’m still involved because I looked at it and saw what it could be.

The Christ-like persons there that I have gotten to know have been some of the deepest, kindest, other-centered people I have ever met in my life.

    Such a hidden gem!

thank you for those questions, interesting ,something to think about

  • Michael says:

Great stuff Soul Crave mentors. Keep up the good work and God bless you.

I feel sad for some of the Lost people who responded. “All you need is love” said Kyla. Does she not understand love only exists because God is love (1 John 4:8)? He created it. The only reason any of those who do not have the Holy Spirit are able to replicate even the dullest sense of love is because we are all made in the image of God.

Kyla, God is LOVE. He is what you seek. It is not modern day society or any society in time for that matter which has caused man to question the “Why?” He MADE US that way to SEEK Him. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 tells us what we all wish we could have, and this is God.

Man my heart is heavy for you people.

  • Michael says:

Excuse me *KIRSTEN said that (“All you need is love), not Kyla.

Kyla, you should be overjoyed that you were lead to the very answer you seek. But you then saw what you did not wish to see; THAT is what bothers you.

I know from experience it is very hard to humble ourselves and admit that WE are not GOD of our own lives, but finally I did and wow, it’s true Jesus gives us an awesome life(John 10:10, Matthew 11:29). He is Lord. But He is a beautiful and all-loving Lord.

And as important (and even more important for the sake of your eternal soul), is that He is our Savior. Our ONLY Savior.

And this is not out of favoritism (Romans 2:11). And although the idea sounds exclusive (and just like a cure for cancer would only cure the cancer-stricken who decide to take it, it IS exclusive), it is available to ALL (Titus 2:11).

This is because the souls of all who sin are cursed to die eternally (Romans 3:23, 6:23) and live separately from God in hell (Luke 12:5, Revelation 20:14-15), and only God who lived a sinless life as man could A) bear our sin and the punishment (justification and propitiation) and B) give to us His righteousness from a sinless life so that we could stand before Holy God for the rest of eternity (imputation – 2 Corinthians 5:21)

Another reason it’s always been God’s plan to have Jesus as the ‘only way’ (John 14:6) is because God wants to live among us in intimate relationship where He knows us and we know Him as Father and Lord. We see that again and again in the scriptures where He walked with His people. Then we see Him implanting the idea in a literal metaphor via His Tabernacle (Exodus 25:8-9). And then God came revealed in Christ to LITERALLY dwell among us (Colossians 1:15-17, John 1:14) and give us just a taste of how great it would be. And then Jesus promised He would go away but send the Holy Spirit to dwell among us and give us power (John 14:16-17, Acts 1:8), and by this The Kingdom of Heaven would begin, first here on Earth through Believers (John 3:3, Luke 17:20-21), to be completed later at the end of our Age once Jesus has judged all and swept away all who are not in Him (Revelation 21:1-2).

You see God wants to LOVE through YOU. HE wants to LOVE =EVERYONE= HE WANTS EVERYONE TO KNOW HIS LOVE (Matthew 28:16-20) And people, IT IS AWESOME! To know the One who created the UNIVERSE?! To know who created you so carefully, meticulously, specially, wonderfully, and beautifully (Psalm 139:13-16)?! Anyone who doesn’t accept Christ actually STOPS Him from loving others THROUGH THEM, and that’s why He made us and that’s why He allows all of us as sinners to be saved so easily (Ephesians 2:8-10), so that He can go on with His mission LOVING people into His Kingdom for ALL OF ETERNITY. You say no to Him, you say NO to TRUE love…

That human love you give, that you offer up, those good deeds you do, they’re NOTHING compared to what He has in store (Isaiah 64:6).

He is God. I’m not making this up. I lived my whole adult life chasing the rockstar life, buying nice clothes, vehicles, gourmet dinners, world travelling, and sleeping with women who were also looking for ‘fun’… and it was all meaningless.

Like those gourmet meals I ALWAYS went away feeling hungry later.

But now I am full because I ate of the Bread of Life

    John 6:35

God bless you all in your search. You have found the Truth. Now embrace it, be Saved, be Loved, and have Life abundantly.

Darrin was heading in the right direction but shouldn’t have ended his journey at atheism. I was at that atheist stop for 20 years – good times. But I dedicated the last 4 years to finding my own answers with nothing but pure intention. Well the transformation is complete and EVERYTHING has come together.
Hope to see you here. I’d give you directions but you gotta find it yourself. Not being mean, it’s just if I try to show you, you can never get there.

    Peace and love.

  • I think this is among the most significant info for me. And i am glad reading your article. But wanna remark on some general things, The site style is ideal, the articles is really nice : D. Good job, cheers
